The Answer to this eBay Question about a "8k Mile Car" is VERY Sketchy (and hilarious)

Found a Merkur Xr4TI on ebay with "8500 miles". Seller never states that the odometer rolled over, though it obviously has given the state of the car. Someone called him on this and the seller replied with this response, which I would deem quite sketchy. My favorite part:

"the manor in which a person stood up from the seat"

As always, thanks for the laughs, eBay. :^)

Why is the Speedometer Waaaaaaaaay over on the left?

Kinja'd!!!

And why does it say 150? Wouldnt it be 85 given its age and the fact its a ford?

Earlier Merkurs had the same speedometer except anything above 85 was just unmarked. I guess Ford just decided not to care in later production years, haha. It was a European car after all

Then why does my 93 ranger only go to 85, when it can certainly do 0ver 100

Pretty sure the seller also indirectly called himself a fatass, so there's that.

"Gauge cluster manufacturer's seal was removed for routine speedometer oil change."

Because America was a weird, weird place in the 80s. We had an 86 Pontiac 6000 STE with a digital dash, right? When you turned it on, all the lights lit up and the speedometer flashed 188. But get on the highway, and guess what? 83...84...85...85...85...still accelerating...85...85...

It was only law to have the 85 max and highlighted 55 from 79 to around 84. A lot of cars continued with it if it was already designed for it well into the 90s but most performance oriented cars ditched it in 85 or 86.

I loved the sticker solution.

I had a 2002 Ranger with the 3L V6 and it was governed at 92.
